Bagber Farm

BAGBER FARM: Private airstrip

Note:  Both of these pictures were obtained from Google Earth ©

These two pictures clearly illustrate just how the conspicuity of a farm airstrip can vary. Often over the course of a single year depending on the time of year and the nature of surrounding crops. It can be a challenge which I thoroughly enjoyed years ago when I was still flying.

Operated by: Mr D Hawkins

Location: 1nm N of Milborne St Andrew near Blandford

Period of operation: 1989(?) onwards

Runway: 04/22   540x15   grass

NOTES: An AAIB report in 1997 states the runway is about 605 metres long. Another AAIB report in 2008 says the runway was 500 x 18.

A look at Google Earth in 2016 (image date 2009) shows the runway as 03/21, 525 metres long, and with no possibility of an extension unless part of a hedgerow is removed.
