NOTES:  Private grass airstrips, (collectively usually known as 'farm strips'), are a foundation stone in the heritage of UK aviation history, and have been since the 1920s with popularity increasing in the 1930s. No other (major) country in the world shares a similar comparable heritage - judged by square mile or head of population.

Statistics are impossible to come by, mainly because under the '28 day rule', if used for less than 28 days a years a year, planning permission is not required. And some farmers will shift their strip around depending on the crop rotation - or so I am told - having found no evidence of this over the years.

Nevertheless, after often seeking advice, the general opinion seems to be that on average over the last forty years or so, there are at least around 550 'strips' operating in the UK each year.

And indeed, many 'strips' are of a very high standard, and this is a good example. I have Douglas Young to thank for this information after he saw an aircraft landing here on the 3rd April 2019.

It appears the Cessna 182 G-MOUT is based here?
