Longhirst

LONGHIRST:  Model flying site

Note:  Without much if any doubt this location was known by another name. Advice will be most welcome.

Location:  W of the B1337, roughly 1nm or so WNW from Longhirst village and about 3nm NNE of Morpeth town centre

Period of operation:  Unknown?  Very roughly around 2019 to 2023?

NOTES: We have Mr Graham Frost, a great friend of this 'Guide', to thank for pointing out this location. It has been my intention from the start of this project to list model flying sites as they are very much an integral and important part of our aviation history. Indeed, it can be well argued that without models to start with, it can be doubted that fixed wing aircraft could have been developed? (See BROMPTON HALL).

This short lived example of what appears to be a 'classic' radio-controlled flying site in the 2020 picture above is most unusual in that we can find no evidence of a club using the site. So, why was it laid out?
