Ashcroft
ASHCROFT: Private airstrip (also known as BRYAN’S LANDINGS)
Note: All eight of these pictures were obtained from Google Earth ©
Does the second picture (2005) show an adjacent N/S runway, about 375 metres long? Indicated by the red line. If anybody can kindly offer advice, this will be most welcome.
The eighth picture shows a useful airfield marking on runway 09/27. I cannot recall seeing another airfield with similar information located alongside a runway. But, am I mistaken?
Operated by: 1992: Mr B E Lockyear
2001: Mr S Billington
Location: 2nm SW of Winsford
Period of operation: 1990s (?) to -
Model flying:
In recent years the Mid-Cheshire Model Flying Club have been invited to fly from this airfield. As the picture shows an operating area and dedicated runway have been provided.
Surely a most welcome and broad-minded approach which is more than welcome in the U.K. If only more might follow this example.

Runways: 1992: 09/27 550x12 grass 06/24 400x8 grass
15/33 400x12 grass
2001: 09/27 550x12 grass 14/32 650x12 grass
NOTES: Bryan Lockyear publishes the well known ‘Guide’ to farm strips and private airfields & airstrips which proved invaluable in researching this 'Guide'. It would be very nice to use some of their old maps to illustrate this historical 'Guide' but so far, (not that I've tried very hard), I cannot find a way to make personal contact.
