BALGRAY HOUSE:    Private airstrip

NOTE:  The exact location of this airstrip appears to be a matter of some debate. The location that Mike Holder and I have decided upon may well be incorrect.

Note:  Presumably the hangar was built here as it is the only small piece of flat land?

Location:  E of the B723, about 2.5nm NNE of Lockerbie town centre

Period of operation:  Unknown?  Certainly it seems from 1974 until 1979

Runway:  Unknown?  Looking at the items above it would seem that a strip aligned 02/20, with a maximum run of 400 metres is most likely?

NOTES:  We have Mr Ross Dowie to thank for pointing out this location. Mike Holder, a great friend of this 'Guide', has provided the maps and Google Street view. If anybody can kindly offer advice and information this will be much appreciated.

Ross later found that the Socata MS.894E Rallye Minerva 220GT, G-BAWT (ex D-EKHX), was registered to Mr Michael J J Paterson at this address from 06.08.74 until 12.03.79.
