Ballahot
Note: This map only gives the general location of Ballasalla within the UK.
BALLAHOT: Very temporary Landing Ground
Operated by: Capt Elgie Jefferson
Location: A field in/near Ballahot (Ballahot doesn’t seem to appear on modern maps?). However, a bit more research appears to show Ballahot as being part of, or near, Ballasalla
Period of operation: 11th & 12th January 1919
NOTES: Capt Jefferson was engaged in delivering a Bristol Fighter from FILTON (GLOUCESTERSHIRE) to RAF MONTROSE (ANGUS) and decided to make an unofficial detour via the Isle of Man where his parents lived in Ballahot, thus becoming the first ever Manxman to fly an aeroplane to the Island?
