We have Mike Holder, (yes, once again), a great friend of this 'Guide'. to thank for discovering this venue. And, for providing the following items to illustrate the listing.
The advert was placed in the Daily Citizen (Manchester) on the 20th July 1914.
The short article One was published, (which surprised me as it is hardly local), in the Gloucestershire Echo on the 23rd July. The photo is from the Lancaster Guardian and Salmet is standing just to the right of the propeller.
The synoptic chart shows a weather system which I like to think is nigh on ideal for northerners in the olden days having a day out at the seaside. As Albert may have remarked to Ethel, (the wife), with young Tommy in tow, "Grand day this is, a nice bracing breeze."
SOME MORE SHORT NEWSPAPER REPORTS
Item One was published in the Bolton Evening News on the 23rd July. Item Two published in the Leeds Mercury on the 24th. And finally but a bit tardy, Item Three appeared in the Shipley Times and Express on the 31st July.
