Here once again, another fine example of how Mike Holder, a great long term friend ofthis 'Guide', has managed to find evidence of another little known venue and location. Plus providing the following items to illustrate the listing.
The Notice One was published in the Liverpool Evening Express on the 21st May 1920. The Notice Two was published in the Liverpool Daily Post on the 22nd June 1920.
Notice Three was published in the London Daily Chronicle on the 21st April 1921. How things have changed! We need to remember that even in the 1920s and 1930s, most of Wales was still in the grips of one of the most draconion, repressive and fundamentalist religious regimes the world has ever seen.
AN EXAMPLE OF VERY POOR AIRMANSHIP?
This article was published in the Daily Herald on the 22nd May 1920. I strongly suspect that this inexperienced pilot had made the classic mistake of drawing a straight line on his chart, without even thinking about the route before departing. Without much if any doubt, if he had elected to simply fly around the coast from Liverpool to Barmouth, he and his passengers would have had a far more comfortable flight.
FLYING THE FLAG
Article Two was published in the Flintshire County Herald on the 2nd September 1927. Article Three was published in the Western Mail on the 8th September 1927. After WW1 when the Royal Air Force had been established, it wasn't long before the decision was made to heavily promote the RAF at as many opportunities as possible around the U.K.

A PERSONAL MEMORY
I took this picture of Barmouth when flying from WYCOMBE AIR PARK to CAERNAFON in the Cessna 172, G-WACL, on the 12th April 1993. Note that we elected to take a route that avoided flying over Snowdonia as low cloud so often affects the local region. As can be seen in this picture.
