BARNYARDS FARM: Temporary landing site

Location: Just S of Wick town centre
Period of operation: Probably from the 19th to 20th April 1931
It appears that 'Ted' Fresson conducted a tour of northern Scotland and the islands in the DH60G Moth G-AAWO, with a Miss Pauer, (both based at HOOTON PARK aerodrome (CHESHIRE) and over the Mersey from Liverpool. It appears that at this period Miss Pauer was the owner of G-AAWO. The idea was to survey suitable sites for 'joy-riding' flights. These being conducted with one of the four Avro 504Ks owned by North British Aviation Ltd, also based at HOOTON PARK. And indeed, they succeeded - but trying to find all the sites used really is a problem today. But Mike Holder, bless him, a great friend of this 'Guide' is determined to reveal as much as can be known.
