BEDDINGTON: Military aerodrome
Note: Also known as CROYDON and not to be confused with the later (Post WW1) civil airport. However, as the CROYDON airport was expanded, to open in 1928, it did occupy some if not all of the BEDDINGTON WW1 aerodrome.

50 [Home Defence] Sqdn (They flew a mixture of types including the Royal Aircraft Factory B.E.2, B.E.12 and the Armstrong-Whitworth F.K.8. Later they standardised on the Sopwith Camel)

Reserve and Training Squadron Station
Location: Roughly 2nm S of Croydon town centre
Period of operation: 1916 to 1919
Site area: 81 acres 686 x 450
NOTE: This aerodrome was just to the north and adjacent to the WADDON aerodrome which later became 'The London Terminal Aerodrome' to supersede CRICKLEWOOD and HOUNSLOW HEATH as the Customs airport for London, before CROYDON was developed.
