Bedford flying sites

Note: This map only shows the position of Bedford town within the UK.

BEDFORD: The 2nd venue for Alan Cobham’s 1929 Municipal Aerodrome Campaign Tour of the UK. This ran from May to October visiting one hundred and seven towns and cities, mostly in England with two venues in Wales and eight in Scotland. But not venturing too far north, Perth being the furthest.

Also listed as a venue for the CD Barnard Air Tours in April 1931.

Obviously both these events may have used separate sites but is anything now known? The same question applies for the visit to Bedford, on the 11th June by Cobham’s 1934 Tour. Several sites listed in the Bedford area presumably would have been suitable?

BEDFORD: Gliding site

Operated by: Bedford Gliding Club

NOTES: Listed on the 26th September 1930. From a site three miles south of Bedford on the Bedford to Luton road, (surely the A.6?). Is any more known?
