BELFAST: Secret airship factory
NOTES: Discovering this account really is a corker! A secret airship factory? Surely impossible?
But, it seems a Dr Boyd did indeed build an airship, and a pretty good one too. It was spotted flying over Belfast on the 1st May 19? When interviewed by local press Dr Boyd claimed they flew across the Irish Channel to England and back at night and averaged 32mph. If correct a truly an amazing turn of speed for an airship prior to WW1. But of course, what was happening to the winds that night?

Period of operation: 24th September 1912 (probably over two or more days?)
NOTES: It is told that H J D Astley was killed on the 24th , “As he vainly tried to avoid the crowds at the apparently too small venue.”
BELFAST: Regional airport (possibly NUTTS CORNER?)
NOTES: In 1933 Midland and Scottish Air Ferries started a service to BELFAST. But where exactly did they land? This was a very common problem found during the research for this 'Guide'.
