Belhaven Sands
Note: This map shows only my estimation of the location used. If anybody could be kind enough to provide a more exact position of the site used, this will be very welcome.
BELHAVEN SANDS: Military Landing Ground
Military user: Royal Air Force
Location: Possibly NNW of Belhaven?
Period of operation: 1918
NOTES: It seems that from June to November 1918 a Blackburn Cuckoo aircraft based at RAF EAST FORTUNE used a Landing Ground at BELHAVEN for torpedo dropping trials in the Firth of Forth. This may well have been situated on the foreshore of course as was common practise in those days and for many years after by both military and civil operators. Using tented accommodation perhaps?
