BELLE VUE: Private airfield, and once temporary aerodrome

Location: S of Huntshaw Cross, 1.5nm NE of Great Torrington, 5nm SE of Bideford, 6 nm SSW of Barnstaple

Period of operation: 1935 then 1991 to -

2004: 08/26   540   grass (also described in 2004 as being 08/26   625x15   grass)

NOTES: The venue address (27th August) for Alan Cobham’s 1935 No.1 Tour is Belle Vue, Torrington.

Today’s maps only show Great Torrington but in WW2 GREAT TORRINGTON is listed as a base for US Army liaison aircraft. Could this be the same site?
