BEMBRIDGE: Military Seaplane Sub-Station later Seaplane Station

Military users: 1915 to 1916 RNAS (Royal Naval Air Service)  

1916-1920 RNAS/RAF
Note: When the RAF (Royal Air Force) came into being on the 1st April 1918, the RNAS was subsumed into this new organisation. It took a few years before it was realised that Naval flying had to be regarded as a totally distinct and different regime from the RAF, and the Fleet Air Arm was formed in 1924, albiet as a seperate entity within the RAF.
 

Location: On Bembridge Point at the NW extremity of modern Bembridge town

Period of operation: 1915 to 1920
