Bere Regis
BERE REGIS: Parachuting site
Note: The local view picture was obtained from Google Earth ©. The area view is from my Google Earth © derived database.
Operated by: Dorset Parachute Centre (Aka Spread Eagles Parachute Club)
Location: About 1.5nm NNW of Bere Regis village, roughly 7nm SSW of Blandford Forum town centre
Period of operation: Possibly late 1970s to late 1980s?
Runway(s): Unknown Max run roughly E/W 900 grass
NOTES: I am indebted to Mr Graham Frost for telling me about this site, together with a copy of the AAIB report EW/C931, concerning the fatal crash of their Cessna U206 G-BDGL. Which makes for very sobering reading. This aircraft was replaced by the Cessna 182E G-KWAX.
Some time ago I made this comment: "Some investigation revealed quite a bit of activity on the inter-web, but, typically no information about the location of the actual site used. If anybody can kindly offer advice, this will be much appreciated."
In November 2022 Mr Baz Manning came to the rescue, and he knows the site. The Google pics above now reflect this.
