Note: This map only shows my guess as to this location. Close enough for a position within the UK of course, but hardly satisfactory. If anybody can kindly offer advice, this will be much appreciated.
BETWS: Very temporary airstrip
NOTES: I once talked to a Jodel owner who had a friend living in Betws and building an aeroplane at his home who had decided to establish a strip in a highly suitable nearby field. Although it’s doubtful this ever happened back then the Jodel owner decided to visit and land in the field which was inhabited by cows whom the farmer said wouldn’t be a problem. On returning to the aircraft they found it surrounded by cows sniffing and licking it! This was a close escape because little did the farmer know that there are several accounts of cattle eating large portions of wood and fabric aeroplanes over the years.
There is another aspect though; this field was just S of the river across from Ammanford, so is it just possible this was the venue for the Cobham’s 1933 Tour visit listed in this 'Guide'? The Jodel owner said he found the field easily as there are very few suitable sites to land on in this vicinity
