Billings Meadow

Note: This map only shows my guess as to where this venue might have been. Close enough I expect for a position within the UK, but hardly satisfactory. If anybody can kindly offer advice on this it will be much appreciated.

BILLINGS MEADOW: Temporary civil aerodrome

Operated by: Aviation Tours

Location: One report says Great Haughton and a modern map shows the village of Great Houghton 3nm SE of Northampton town centre.
This seems a likely venue with a large flat valley alongside the river Nene

Period of operation: 14th to 23rd April 1931

NOTES: Despite my notes of this venue being near Great Houghton, it is hard to ignore the Billing Aquadrome etc situated further east - which is where I have placed the map.

Not much seems known about this Tour, which appears to have started in April 1931 and ended in September. However, it appears that they performed at venues from Penzance in Cornwall up to Inverness in Scotland.

Any further advice will be much appreciated.
