Blair Drummond
Note: This map only gives the position of Blair Drummond within the UK. Is it possible that somebody today knows of the exact site used? If so this advice will be much appreciated.
BLAIR DRUMMOND: Early experimental flying site
Operated by: The Barnwell brothers
Location: In/near Blair Drummond NE of the A.84 junction with the A873, about 5nm NW of Stirling town centre
Period of operation: Possibly only in August/September 1911?
NOTES: It appears, for reasons unknown (?) that the Barnwell brothers transferred their flying activities fairly briefly from CAUSEWAYHEAD to BLAIR DRUMMOND before moving to LANARK in October. LANARK of course has since been known for the fabulous success of the Air Meeting held there in 1910.
