A Guide to the history of British flying sites within the United Kingdom

Blowfield

Note: This map only gives the general location within the UK.

BLOWFIELD: Temporary (?) microlight strip (Also spelt as Blofield)

Location: Blowfield is on the A47, roughly 5nm E of Norwich city centre

NOTES: The info source for this location was the AAIB report EW/G2005/07/39. From this report it appears that the field is 250 to 300 metres long and the narrowest section is about 13 metres. Orientated N/S it is bounded by trees on the north, west and east sides so take-offs are to the south whereas landings are from the south. A marginal site at best it seems.

Can anybody provide a bit more history and a more precise location?
