33 [Home Defence] Sqdn (Royal Aircraft Factory B.E.2s, later F.E.2s, then in June 1918 Bristol F2B Fighters, quickly replaced by Avro 504 night-fighters in August)

Location: Just SSW of Blyborough Grange and halfway between the B1598 and the A15. E of Blyborough village, roughly 7.5nm ENE of Gainsborough and about 2nm SSE of KIRTON-in-LINDSAY

Period of operation: 1916 to 1918

Site area: 50 acres

NOTE: See also the listing for BLYBOROUGH (private), an aerodrome that was roughly 1.5nm NW of the WW1 site. I had wondered if the WW1 site was the same as the later civil aerodrome. See 'comment' below.

I do not believe that to be the case , the first world war site was different to the private grass airstrip where I worked as an apprentice in the mid 60s

Eric Humphreys. Would the Blister Hangar on the farm at nearby Long Lane, Willoughton, have any connection to the airstrip where you worked?
