Bolsover

BOLSOVER: Temporary aerodrome
Operated by: Alan Cobham’s 1932 National Aviation Day UK Display Tour
Period of operation: 7th October 1932
NOTES: The 160th venue for this incredible aviation enterprise. Today of course Alan Cobham will be regarded as an obsessive workaholic, and without doubt in need of serious counselling.
Be that as it may, and we cannot much doubt it, his numerous achievements in British avation history, are arguably without equal. Please do not forget that preceeding his most astonishing and comprehensive series of Tours around the UK, he had pioneered airline routes to South Africa and through the Middle East, and Asia to Australia. But do we have a monument to him in central London - NO! We should be, as a nation, ashamed for this ommission in our history.
