Bowers Landing Ground

BOWERS LANDING GROUND: Military airstrip/airfield   (Aka BRETTON)

Military users: RAF:

5 FTS [Flying Training School]   ( Hawker Harts in 1937)

Location: In/near Bretton village area which is just N of the A55, just S of the A5104 and roughly 3.5nm SW to WSW of Chester city centre

NOTES: This small Landing Ground was quickly encompassed during WW2 by the much larger HAWARDEN airfield which doubled as a RAF Fighter Station and, of course, a major factory for Vickers, mostly building Wellington bombers.
