Note: This map only shows my rough guess at an approximate position. Good enough for a general idea within the UK, but hardly satisfactory. If anybody knows of a more exact location, this advice will be most welcome.
BOWLEE: Balloon centre for Manchester?
NOTES: As I’ve imposed the very widest remit for flying sites I think it’s well worth mentioning this site as barrage balloons were a very important aspect of WW2, especially for our own pilots as these often created quite severe difficulties for their flying duties.
Also, but does this apply in this case (?), barrage balloons were often used for parachuting practice.
