Operated by: Hampshire Microlight Club

Location:  Just E of Bracklesham Bay, 5.5nm SSW of Chichester town centre

Period of operation: Apparently from 2002 to 2005

Runway:  10/28   360   grass

NOTES: In June 2005, (24th to 26th), a site in or near Bracklesham Bay was planned for aircraft in transit to SANDOWN on the Isle of Wight. It appears this was a favourite venue for a Hampshire microlight group until a fatal accident occurred to the commercial pilot of a Cessna 172 engaged in banner towing duties during August 2005 which resulted in the site being closed it is said.

I had made a comment that I was unable to find this site, so was delighted to be kindly contacted by Mr Martyn Love in August 2021, who pinpointed it for me. He tells us that he was based here for a short while and the hangars were on the southern part of the expanded section in the SE area shown in the picture above.

I flew in to Bracklesham Bay on 29 May 2005 in an Cyclone AX3 microlight and it's a great pity that it closed. Your 2019 Aerial View is wrong, the strip was slightly to the south of that. If you look at Google Earth historical imagery and go back to 2007 you can clearly see the location of the strip. It's now totally obliterated.
