Bramerton

Note: This map only gives the position of Bramerton village within the UK.

BRAMERTON: Private(?) helipad

Location: Near Bramerton Church. Bramerton is about 1.5nm N of the A146, roughly 8nm SE of Norwich city centre

Period of operation: 1979 to 1982 (Only?)

NOTES: It is reported that the Brantly B.2B G-AVJN was based here during this period.

The main reason for listing this site is simply because, (and I might well be mistaken), that in those days I believe that private helipads were still uncommon. The Brantly B.2 was, I think, the first of the light helicopters imported from the USA and suitable for private use.

The situation today in the UK has been utterly transformed, with hundreds of private helipads, although of course most do not have a privately owned helicopter based on them.
