Brantham Mill
BRANTHAM MILL: Private airstrip?
These pictures are from my Google Earth © derived database. Please note that not all the flying sites listed are 'pinned' on my database.
IMPORTANT NOTE
We have Mr Graham Frost, a great friend of this 'Guide', for discovering that at least four aircraft were registered to this address by Jasman Imports Exports Ltd in the 1960s. So, is it safe to assume that an airstrip was laid out? If so, it was probably N of the B1070 and the River Stour, about 1nm NW to NNW of Manningtree town centre and roughly 7nm NE of Colchester city centre. The period of operation of the company being from 1964 to 1969.
FOUR AIRCRAFT FOUND SO FAR
It does seem that Jasman Import Export Ltd was a fairly short lived enterprise intended to trade as aircraft sales dealers? The four examples found so far being:
G-ASPT (Ex CF-OYN) Cessna 172D Skyhawk Registered from 10.06.64 to 22.09.65
G-ASRD (Ex EI-AKR) Bellanca 260 14-19-3 Registered from 13.10.65 to 01.12.65
G-ASVG (Ex F-BILV) Piel CP301B Emeraude Registered from 26.09.66 to 10.05.67
G-ATDH Gardan GY80-160 Horizon Registered from 01.12.67 to 06.02.69
As always with compiling this 'Guide', if anybody can kindly offer advice and information, this will be much appreciated.
