Brent Knoll
Note: This map only gives a general location within the UK. A good look on Google Earth appears to reveal no obvious airstrip, but loads of potential sites suitable for use by a Piper Cub. If anybody knows where this 'event' took place, and can provide an exact position, this advice will be much appreciated.
BRENT KNOLL: Private airstrip or temporary landing ground?
Location: Just to the W of Brent Knoll village which is about 1.5nm NE of Burnham-on-Sea town centre
NOTES: The info source here was the AAIB report EW/G97/12/12 and the aircraft involved was a Piper J3C-65 Cub registered G-KIRK. Nuff said? The owner of G-KIRK, Maurice Kirk, is of course one of the ‘maverick’ heroes of recent times. A most singular character quite determined to make his stamp on our aviation history, and succeeding - and not a follower of the rule books.
