Brinklow
BRINKLOW: Satellite Landing Ground
Military user: RAF 46 SLG (Satellite Landing Ground)
Location: 4nm E of Coventry
Period of operation: 1941 to 1945
NOTES:
Typically Satellite Landing Grounds were used by Maintenance Units for the safe storage of aircraft destined for operational use. It appears that at some of these sites some work, such as minor modifications etc was carried out, but generally the aircraft were kept ready to be delivered as required to replace those lost on operations.
I have yet to discover which types were held in storage here. Perhaps somebody can kindly offer advice?
