Broom Hall gliding
Note: This map only shows the position of Llanystumdwy village within the UK. If anybody can kindly offer advice, this will be much appreciated.
BROOM HALL: Gliding site
Operated by: Mr W P Evans?
Location: In/near Llanystumdwy, spelt also as Llanysumdwy, roughly 6nm ENE of Pwllheli
Period of operation: 1934 to 1937?
NOTES: It would appear that Mr William Prys Evans either started flying by gliding or at least encouraged gliding in this region. One reference states that “he graduated to a Puss Moth G-AAXW” thereby seeming to suggest the gliding connection, graduating from gliding to powered aircraft?
The details found so far seem a tad vague if not contradictory as gliding seems to have taken place only in 1934 to 1935. On the other hand it seems that Mr Evans supported gliding activity at Pwllheli so there were actually two sites - one for gliding near Pwllheli and the other his private airstrip at BROOM HALL. See seperate entry.
