In November 1931 it appears there was an attempt to establish a flying club here with two Avro 504Ks 'erected' in a garage at Orsett many miles away. Orsett is roughly 4nm N of Tilbury.

A SINGULAR EVENT
It seems that the unique Vickers 130 Vidid, (later a re-design to become the record breaking Vickers Type 142), G-EBPY, was destroyed by fire here in September 1932 after breaking off it’s undercarriage when landing. Does anybody know why it was landing here?
