Period of operations:  1988 to -

Runways: 1988?  (Evidence of a runway -  07/25   300   grass - but not in the same position as the present 07/25 runway)

2006:   13/31   300   grass

(2016):  15/33    529x16    grass          07/25   420x20    grass

NOTES: Following a request for more information, in November 2016 I was kindly contacted by John Boyce who has produced a very nice web-site for this airfield. See: http://brownshuttersfarmairfield.co.uk/

It appears that the airstrip, then with a single runway, was laid out in 1988 by the ex-Fleet Air Arm pilot Eric Newbigin for use by his DH.82A Tiger Moth. In around 2007/08 the site was reconfigured with a second runway being added.

In June 2023 Mr Graham Frost, a great friend of this 'Guide', informed me that a video was available showing a flight from here in a single-seat flex-wing.

See:   https://youtu.be/_AVOWS3T248

Note:  For some odd reason highlighting this and going for a link does not appear to work, (in mid 2023 at any rate), but going direct to Youtube it does play.

Well worth watching, at least in many respects. I have never been prone to airsickness, even when being treated to advanced aerobatics, but watching this flimsy machine bouncing around in the air certainly had me feeling uncomfortable - sitting in a seat watching a computer screen!

My first visit on Thursday in my Skyranger Swift. Although I only ppr'd by phone, I received a comprehensive airfield brief and was made very welcome by the folks I met. I'll be back !
