Bruton

Note: This map only gives the position of Redlynch village. If anybody knows the exact location for the airstrip, this advice will be much appreciated.

BRUTON: Military aerodrome

Military user: US Army 3rd Armoured Division Artillery HQ

Location: Redlynch House about 1.5nm SE of Bruton, 4nm NNW of Wincanton. Near/in Redlynch village on the B3081

Period of operation: 1942 to 1945 only? Or more probably 1943 to 1944 only?

NOTES: It appears that just one Piper L-4 Grasshopper and one Stinson L-5 Sentinel were based here.
