Burton-on-Wirral

Note: This map only shows the position of Burton village within the UK. A look at Google Earth in 2017 appeared to reveal no evidence of this airstrip. If anybody can kindly offer advice, this will be most welcome.

BURTON-on-WIRRAL: Private airstrip

Location: In/near Burton, about 1 to 1.5nm W/SW of the A540, roughly 7nm NW of Chester city centre

Period of operation: 2000s only?

Runway: 09/27   550x5   grass

NOTES: Info source, AAIB report EW/G2005/06/04. As pointed out in the report a runway width of 5 metres is exceptionally narrow and contributed to the accident. For runways less than 800 metres long the CAA recommend a runway width of at least 18 metres.
