Bush Barn
BUSH BARN: Military aerodrome (on charge to HMS Kestrel)
Military user: RN Storage depot
Also 44 SLG [Satellite Landing Ground] (RAF)
Location: 10nm SW of Oxford, SE of Pusey village
Period of operation: 1941 to 1945
Runways: 08/26 804 grass 10/28 1033 grass
16/34 896 grass
NOTES: In WW2 this airfield was in Berkshire, but now it seems the location is in Oxfordshire.
Operational notes state that the aerodrome is “surrounded by trees with gaps on the indicated approaches”. Must have been interesting landing here in windy conditions!
It now appears this was a shared site, but not necessarily concurrently? It would appear that the RAF used it as 44 SLG (Satellite Landing Ground) from 1941.
