Buxted
BUXTED: Possible microlight strip?
Location: Just SE of Buxted village on the A272, roughly 1.5nm NE of Uckfield town centre
Runway (?): 11/29 215 grass
NOTES: Whilst trying to sort out why the PILTDOWN private airstrip has also been known as BUXTED, I noticed a rather curious feature on Google Earth, (image date 2015). It showed a very distinctive narrow strip with a turning circle at the NW end.
The 'runway' length was only 215 metres but the picture seemed to suggest a possible microlight strip?
It is of course part of the remit for this 'Guide' to look at any evidence of a flying site, going back centuries in a few cases. If anybody can kindly offer advice this will be much appreciated.
