Location:  Just S of the B6019, just E of Alfreton town centre

NOTES:  We have Mr Graham Frost, a great friend of this 'Guide', to thank for pointing out this location.

As a general rule in compiling this 'Guide', a Google Earth picture since around 2000, showing an aeroplane in a field, is normally a pretty good indication that it is being used for the purposes of committing aviation - even if briefly. In this case, the field it is in, (I cannot identify the type), has a potential E/W landing area of about 500 metres.

But, looking at the aerial detail picture this aircraft looks in a bad way, typically after having had a crash. It seems to listing over and, appears to have no tailplane?

There is surely a story to be told here, but will it ever come to light? As always, if anybody can kindly offer advice and information, this will be much appreciated.

Both of these pictures were obtained from Google Earth ©.

In August 2025, Graham kindly pointed out that since this listing was first made, it now appears that the larger field , just to the north is being used. Note the aircraft in the 2022 picture. It also now seems that this location is being operated by the Great British Aircraft Company Ltd, and indeed, they have the Vickers-Armstrong Spitfire Mk. TIX, G-CLXB (exML295) registered to this address.

I am assuming, (often a mistake of course), that it may well be hangared in the field just to the south? Landing runs seem to be around 400 metres, and the 2023 picture, (Google Earth © dating is suspect at best - or was), suggests that 07/25 or 10/28 are favoured.
