During the Sky Devils Air Circus Display two aircraft collided - on the ground. The Essex Chronicle newspaper had this to say: 'The pilot and two passengers who had been on a joy flight at the British Hospitals Air Pageant [should be Sky Devils Air Circus] at Woodford, on Sunday, were injured when the machine was in collision with another just taking off. The pilot, Mr. Richmond F. Robinson, of Fenchurch Street, E.C., was rendered unconscious and was taken to King George’s Hospital, Ilford. The two passengers were Miss Joan Quirk, of Granville Road, South Woodford, and Mr. E. A. Dorling, of Ashford Road, Woodford. They were able to extricate themselves from the damaged machine, and were only slightly injured. The machine which was taking off was piloted by Mr. Morris E. Hearn, of Romford Road, Forest Gate. He escaped uninjured.' The Ilford Recorder newspaper of 5 October 1934 carried a longer report, mentioning 'amazing scenes' where the crowd attacked people photographing the wrecked aircraft, and chased some photographers from the field.
