NOTES:  Lord Carbery, which I must confess is not a name I am familiar with, was by this time establishing quite a reputation for being a very capable aviator, and I find it of interest that he decided to do displays this far south in Eire. At that time the seeds of rebellion to establish a seperate State, divorced from the U.K., were proceeding at quite a pace. But, when WW1 was announced, many thousands in Ireland freely volunteered to fight that threat.

However, once that conflict had been resolved, rebellion quickly erupted. Perhaps spurred on by the utter catastrophe they had witnessed? Leading to the Irish War of Independence. Seems to me that, with hindsight of course, the British do not come out of it at all well. The Irish Free State being established in December 1922.
