Coleby Grange
COLEBY GRANGE: Military aerodrome
Note: When this first picture was taken by the author, in the late evening, the remains of the control tower appeared to be the the only clue that this location was once a military aerodrome. Not that I had time to investigate as I was transporting an aircraft from RAF Cranwell to the Grob factory in Bavaria, southern Germany, and was on my way to catch a freight ferry across the North Sea from Killingholme.
However, many years later when I discovered Google Earth © , this second picture gives another aspect. This showing that the perimeter of the WW2 airfield is still clearly visible.
