NOTES:  This information came from an article by Bev Brook in the March 2021 issue of Light Aviation magazine. Well worth a read.

It partly concerns the power station at Shoreham, a wonderful landmark with its twin chimneys for many years from 1947 until 1988. If you can excuse a story I can tell, I would beg to differ about the dates? On the 5th July 1990 I flew with one of my instructors from Wycombe Air Centre down to SHOREHAM where he was revalidating his helicopter rating. The visibility was crystal clear and about twenty miles out I asked him if he had the airfield in view? Obviously he said he hadn't but I said I had - its on the nose. He was amazed at just how good my eyesight was.

What I had spotted was the power station at Shoreham. Quite likely I had only seen the remaining chimney, and yet in my minds eye, there were still two!
