WARNING:  ADDICTION POSSIBLE
I clearly have had no idea what has been going on recently in model flying. Dialled up the inter-web to see if anything was available regarding the Eglwysian MFC, and was blown away. The result was sensational - they, (and other Clubs), now have models fitted with cameras and the model fliers can wear a headset, like goggles, which enables them to 'see' what the model is doing and where it is going. Exactly as if they were sitting in it!

They have videos available and I could watch them endlessly. The 'films' really are amazing. I have done a fair amount of aerobatic flights in my time with, sometimes, a few of the best aerobatic pilots in the world. Many happy memories. Have to admit though that basically I was just a 'passenger'. Like to tell the story, (made up to some extent), that when I last attempted aerobatics the instructor told me, "Sorry, but I have to say - you are useless!" I was delighted, telling him, "What? I've improved?"

Clearly, flying an aeroplane when sitting, strapped into it, is a completely different experience, but, seeing these 'films' of what models can do is on another level entirely and highly recommended.
