This is quite a big training area for the Royal Engineers with Hawley Lakes and common land stretching from the to the village of Blackwater. (late 60s eary 70s) In this area was constructed a landing strip which was certainly used by Beavers and AOP9s and on one occasion Beverleys were thought to have used it. Having visited the site and found the strip I have my doubts about the Beverley story however there was a concreted strip there of a reasonable length.
