A MAJOR NEW ADDITION

We have Mr Graham Frost, a great long-term friend of this 'Guide' to thank for pointing out this new helipad. Built on what was once the fixed-wing aircraft parking area at the eastern end of the runway, this purpose-built helipad for air ambulance operations opened on the 10th December 2024. It came into being by a collaboration of the HELP charity, local contractors and the 39 Engineer Regiment of the Corps of Royal Engineers.

 

NOTE:  This airstrip has for a long time looked "rough", but, for the purposes of this 'Guide', is it still available for fixed-wing visitors? If anybody can kindly offer advice, this will be most welcome.
