NOTES: It is probably worthwhile to point out that the 'Flying Circus' era did not get going until 1931, and by 1936 had pretty much finished. And, this was happening during the height of the 'Great Depression' in the UK. Am still learning about this era and find it very interesting as there seem to be three major aspects involved. Firstly, it was a very bad time for the working classes, and the middle class people, by and large, had to draw back, But, for the upper classes, generally, it made no difference at all. Indeed, some industrialists made fortunes in the latter stages as the UK started to gear up for another world war.
As an example, and pretty much at the very same time, when the starving "Jarrow marchers" were walking down the AI trunk road to Westminster to plead for relief, Shorts had just launched their most luxurious Empire Class flying boats to ply routes around the British Empire. The basis was, to carry air mail, but it appears, they had no shortage of passengers. Many of which, needless to say, being top government officials.
