Once again we have Mike Holder, a great long-term friend of this 'Guide', to thank for both discovering this little known location and providing the following items to illustrate the listing.
The Article One was published in the Wellington Journal on the 7th May 1932.
The Notice appeared in the Shrewsbury Chronicle on the 10th June 1932, and the Article Two was published on the 24th June.

NOTES: When Mike sent me this information, my first reaction was - why there? Why not an already established Landing Ground/aerodrome nearby? I then gave it some thought and looked at the maps Mike has kindly provided for them. It then seemed quite obvious that a location near to the A528, (unlike the A49), with very few buildings alongside until much closer to the town centre, would be so much easier to control and police. Also, as I assume the road used for a Royal would be closed whilst he was travelling, the disruption to local traffic would be minimalised.
It appears that the press were excluded from the Landing Ground, so no pictures were taken of the aircraft used? The Prince of Wales owned quite a few and a list of them can be found in my listing for SMITHS LAWN.
