NOTES:  We have Mr Graham Frost, a great friend of this 'Guide' to thank for pointing out this helipad.

Quite why it was deemed needed, might well remain a mystery today (?), and I wonder how many times it has been used in the last twenty years? If anybody can kindly offer advice, this will be most welcome.

MORE INFO
In April 2023 I was kindly contacted by Mr Tommy Dee. He remembers his father telling him that the helicopters were flying people and supplies out to the gas rigs in Morecambe Bay. A bit more delving reveals that the two gas fields, (Morecombe South and Morecombe North), were discovered in 1974 and 1976 although production didn't start until January 1985.

So, this pretty much dates the start of operations from the helipad to the early 1980s. Although some of the rigs are being decommissioned, it appears that many were still producing today - 2023. Once very busy, I haven't found out if the helipad is still in use.
