More recently known as DERROGUE AIRPORT
Note: This picture (2018) was obtained from Google Earth ©

Location: W of Dunnaval Road, N of Greencastle Road and about 1nm SW of Kilkeel
Period of operation: 1970s to -
Runways: 01/19 460 grass 14/32 180 grass
Note: According to information on a web-site, regarding a Fly-In for 2017, the 01/19 runway is now 750 metres long.
NOTES: If you search on the inter-web, this airfield appears to be known both as DERRYOGUE and KILKEEL.
In the mid 1970s it seems the Piper PA-18 Super Cub 95 G-ARBX and Champion 7AC G-AVDT were based here.
There is an AAIB accident report regarding the Aeroprakt A22 Foxbat G-VROD in January 2008. Was this based here or just visiting? The same question applies to another incident involving the Luscombe 8A Silvaire G-BSTX in 2010.
Is it possible that this airstrip is also known as NICHOLSON'S FIELD?
A SMALL RANT
It annoys me, very much, that so many aerodromes like to assume the name of being an airport. The term Air Port goes back to the time when an Air Port was used to differentiate it from a Sea Port. A place where regular scheduled services operated from - and - the definition still applies. Rather like a Luftwaffe Bf.109 pilot in early WW2, I can expect to be shot down. But, in this case, am pretty confident that no scheduled airline operations operate from here?
