Operated by: Upham Aviation

Location: 5nm SE of Swindon, E of the A346 between Chisledon and Ogbourne St George

Period of operation: 1993 to -

Runways: 18/36   700x15   grass           09/27   700x15   grass

NOTES: Several years ago I made this observation:  "A classic example for possible confusion? At Flying For Fun in 2006 Mr John Hedges, flying the Rallye MS892 G-BFAK booked in from LOWER UPHAM but thoughtfully added Chisledon. LOWER UPHAM being really well known in HAMPSHIRE for the PHOENIX FARM operations. To make matters worse a large scale map which I use for basic identification purposes only shows Upper Upham in this vicinity! No mention of a LOWER UPHAM nearby. On the other hand Mr Pete Bush, flying the PA-16 G-BIAP booked in from DRAYCOTT FARM, Chisledon. Both these pilots are correct of course in listing their proper departure points."

I make this point simply because, in compiling this 'Guide', the emergence and development of the internet, especially with Google Maps and Google Earth, has been a godsend.

In 2008 Wilts Flyers held a Charity Fly-in with 104 visiting aircraft. Where on earth did they park them all? Presumably using one of the runways.
