AN ARTICLE
This article, divided into three parts to make it easier to read, was published in the Alderley - Wilmslow Advertiser on the 30th August 1912.
Note: The short article was published in The Aeroplane on the 21st April 1920. The area view is from my Google Earth © derived database.
MACCLESFIELD: Temporary aerodrome
Operated by: Cobham & Holmes Aviation Company
Location: As above
Period of operation: From the 15th until the 29th April 1920
NOTES: It appears that just one Avro 504K was being operated. I have found a record saying it was used by the Berkshire Aviation Co in April 1920. However, I believe I am correct in thinking that this display, held over fifteen days, was before Alan Cobham and Fred Holmes had formed the Berkshire Aviation Company. Within a year or so Alan Cobham, later to be knighted of course for his services to pioneering air routes to South Africa and the far east, had left to join de Havilland at STAG LANE in north-west London.
